Veterans In Production

About

Light Inside Cinema was started by Army Veteran Luke Riether, who served overseas and came back with severe PTSD. Like many veterans, Luke struggled after returning home. But he found that making movies helped him cope with his trauma and gave him a new way to heal.

That’s why Luke created Veterans in Production (VIP). It’s a community for veterans who are looking for a safe place to share their stories, connect with others, and learn about filmmaking. We know that PTSD doesn’t just go away, but creating movies and working together can help make the burden a little lighter.

Light Inside Cinema is open to all veterans. Think of it as a safe bunker where you can go to find support and purpose. You’re not alone—Luke wants veterans to know that there’s always someone standing with them, just like a battle buddy.

At VIP, we introduce veterans to the world of movies and show them how it can be a great way to manage trauma. It’s not just about learning a new skill; it’s about building a community where we help each other through the tough times and create something meaningful together.

Welcome to Light Inside Cinema, where veterans find their voice and their Unit.

About Our Founder

Luke Riether served in the Oklahoma Army National Guard from 2005 to 2016. During his service, he was deployed overseas. Like many veterans, Luke struggled deeply with severe PTSD after returning home.

At one point, Luke faced a moment of crisis. At just 26, he found himself in a dark place, holding a gun and crying out in desperation. In a profound and life-changing moment, a picture of his daughter fell and shattered on the floor, which was enough to make him drop the gun. This powerful experience reaffirmed his faith and his love for art, giving him a new direction.

Through his journey, Luke discovered that creating films became a source of healing and strength. Now, he’s dedicated to helping others who face similar struggles.

At Veterans in Production (VIP), Luke’s mission is to offer a supportive community where veterans can find purpose and solace through filmmaking. It’s about turning trauma into creativity and offering hope to those who need it most.

Support Our Mission

Did you know that, tragically, approximately 22 veterans take their own lives every day? These numbers are a stark reminder of the struggles many veterans face.

At Light Inside Cinema, our primary mission is to provide a lifeline through filmmaking. Your donation plays a crucial role in helping veterans find hope and purpose in this industry. Every contribution helps us support and mentor veterans, giving them a chance to start anew and find healing through creative expression.

Your support not only helps in their transition but also makes a meaningful difference in their lives. Together, we can work towards a future where every veteran has the opportunity to find their path and make their voice heard.

Thank you for being a part of this mission.
